Kiln notes March

"

Cone 6 this week. I loaded fourteen mugs on Tuesday night and opened the kiln Wednesday morning, which is my preferred schedule — awake for the cool-down, gone for the boring middle part.

Twelve came out fine. Two have pinholes on the lip where I dipped too fast. I'll sell the good ones and keep the bad ones on a shelf above my glaze buckets.

Parkway green is reading warmer this batch — more olive, less gray. Could be the new bag of silica sand I picked up in Vernon.

I'm trying to fire on a rhythm: mugs first, then tiles, then whatever one-of-one has been drying long enough to risk.
